Because GFD includes historical data on over 50,000 companies, the GFD Search Tool is an essential feature that will enable you to locate the companies that you want to analyze. This File Search allows you to search by stock tickers, Standard Industrial Classification (SIC), North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), Central Index Key (CIK) number and Committee on Uniform Security Identification Procedures (CUSIP).
The GFD Search Engine allows you to use key words to search either the names of individual stocks or the additional information only GFD provides about the stocks. As an example, typing “General Electric” into the Keyword search enables you to find companies that have been acquired by General Electric. With the Filter Search, you could use categories such as Sector, Industry, Stock Market Index Membership, Equity Classification and others to find specific stocks.
Want to know how energy stocks performed in the 1970s and 1980s? You can use our Filter Search to find both current and delisted companies in the oil industry in the 1970s. You can find the data for American Telephone & Telegraph, AT&T Inc. and AT&T Corp. You can not only get the data for Citi, but for Primerica, Citicorp, Travelers and other companies Citi acquired, as well as Shearson Loeb Rhoades, Inc.
We also provide corporate descriptions for each company so you can understand what goods or products the companies produced or what services they provided. Our corporate histories also describes what happened to the company when it delisted.
